Bruce Martin's Certificate of Service on HMNZS Gambia
The Certificate reads:
B. Martin was a member of the Ship's company of HMNZS Gambia during of the operations of the British Pacific Fleet and U.S. Third Fleet against Japan, March - September 1945. HMNZS Gambia fired the last shot against the Japanese Homeland at Kamashi on 9th August 1945: and had the distinction of representing New Zealand at the formal surrender of the Japanese Empire in Tokyo Bay on 2nd September 1945.

Be it known to all to whom these presents may come that Bruce A. Martin, HMNZS Gambia, as a member of Tokyo Bay Occupation Force (TF-31) participated in the initial landing and occupation ofthe Tokyo Bay Area and the capture of HIJMS Nagato whih act symbolized the unconditional and complete surrender of the Japanese Navy. 30 August, 1945.
