Len Bloomfield

Royal Marine Len BloomfieldLen Bloomfield was a Royal Marine who served on HMS Gambia between 1941 and 1943.

Len was a real character, very well liked and an expert gunnery instructor.

Garry Purdy, whose father served on HMS Gambia between February 4, 1942 to July 11, 1946, met Len and said that Len was vey enthusiastic and used to man a Royal Marine table at RAF Duxford each year. He said that "We first met up with him at the National War Memorial Centre, Alrewas, Staffordshire, when a large Commemorative Memorial stone was blessed by Royal Marine Chaplains with Royal Marine Bands present and may of the veterans like Len marching proudly to the music."
